Currently, when looking at tast manager i am very bottle necked by the CPU while streaming plus gaming. I can occasionally be bottle necked by the RAM as well, just not having enough.
Even if the CPU is not at a 100% in some settings or games, the single core of this CPU is a bottleneck.

I would like to upgrade to a 5900x as that would leave me plenty of room down the road, only reason i have a 3600 is because of the pandemic and i bought a prebuilt in order to get a 3060ti, been slowly upgrading since and using all the parts im upgrading to build back the original computer to sell, or for my gf to use.

As this is currently affecting my performance the most, the plan would be to get a 5900x, with either nhd15 or Icegiant Prosiphon Elite as well as upgrade to 32 GB of faster ram with lower CL.

I know having all this with a 3060ti is overkill, but my gpu is currently not that much of a bottleneck and i would like to wait for next gen GPU's to drop in order to upgrade to a 3080, or 3080ti.

What do you think about this upgrade path, as well as any recommendation for the ram in that set up?

Thanks a lot in advance for any response, you guys are the best !

i think you could probably get away with a 5800x, it only has 2 more cores but has much better per core performance than the 3600.

For streaming i think higher speed might be better than lower cl but both of them are helpful. but i think ryzen can potentially have problems with super fast ram so id probably go for 3866mhz with lowest cl you can get

edit: i dont think theres alot of 3866 mhz low cl kits out there, 3600 cl14 or cl16 is probably alot cheaper and more common

Sell off the cpu + cooler + ram

5900x may help with your cpu bottleneck issues

Cooler wise prosiphon is overkill, if you are intending to keep the cooler for the next decade or so then a d15/drp4/fuma2 is justified, also gonna be pretty quiet

Rams wise youll be fine with the cheapest 3200 cl16/3600 cl18 2x16 kit you can find, any other bins than that is overpriced trash that overclocked ballistix or crucial bare pcb 2400-3200 will destroy (upto 4600+ cl17/18 1.6v)
