Ring doorbells

Go to solution Solved by mcarley11,

I have a ring doorbell on my front door of my house and I live in a one story house that is about 2,400 square feet and my room is in very back Conor of the house and that also where my router is. And it works great and the signal has to go through a lot of walls to reach the doorbell. There are some weeks where it disconnected from the wifi for a couple day and then reconnected to it without me doing anything to it so I think it just because the router is so far away from it plus too many people on the internet at my house that why it does it. But the battery has lasted about three months so far with no issue. So I would think it would work for since you don't have big of place like me. But also the only downside to a ring doorbell if you want to watch back footage at a later time you have to either pay a monthly subscription are a yearly one for about $30 so I think it worth for that price and the peace of mind security of my house and I also have had the same problem as you with my mail and package not getting delivered like they claim they did so that one of the reason I wanted to get a doorbell camera.

Possibly going to need one of these as I've got an ongoing case against our local mail service. They keep lying about deliveries I attempted. Little do they know I have a camera in my hallway which proves they weren't there. Anyway, thats another story.

They have on occasion though claimed to knock and although the hall camera picks up sound they could maybe argue it didn't pick up the knock, its microphone isn't great to be honest. Its only a cheap thing but does the job, saves to cloud so would be useful if burgaled, which hopefully won't happen!

So looks like I might buy one of the ring doorbells. I've seen some knock cheap versions but the gf bought one and it was a total piece of crap. Needed charging every couple of days and kept losing connection with the router that was literally on the other side of a wall.

I know the ring doorbell claims brilliant ranges but I am am not sure whether to put in on my flat door (roughly 10 metres from my desk,) or the communal door. Roughly 25 metres. There's only 1 wall between the doorbell and receiver so the signal shouldn't have too much trouble. Also got an new router which seems to have  a decent signal.

Anyone got experience of them. What is the battery life actually like and what is the range actually like? I'm sure the range is fantastic if there are not blockages but the reality is that most people don't live in houses without walls!

Input welcome as always.
