Hi, everyone first post here. I just recently upgraded my system listed above by upgrading the CPU from a Ryzen 5 2600 to a Ryzen 7 5700X. I didn't want to change the motherboard cause I figured I could drop the new CPU in after updating to the latest supported BIOS. On that mobo specifically I updated to F63a which is the latest BIOS revision.

Im using the stock cooler and I noticed that the temps are really high, idling around 50 to 60, I already ordered a cooler but aside from that Ive been having really bad issues like BSODs and sometimes visual artifacting. Ive only had this cpu for about 2 days. Everything else including the 2600 has been in use for a couple years so I haven't seen issues like this until I swap to the 5700X.

Several of the BSOD codes I got refer to SYSTEM_SERVICE_EXCEPTION, IRQL_NOT_LESS_THAN_EQUAL, and SYSTEM_THREADED_EXCEPTION_NOT_HANDLED.
They seemed to occur randomly or after plugging/unplugging any USBs devices and I also seem to get visual artifacting now when running prime 95.

Things ive tried:

  • DDUing my graphics drivers
  • reset bios settings
  • turned XMP profile off
  • deleting old cpu drivers off device manager (they are hidden)
  • windows disk check
  • updating AMD Chipset drivers

Sorry for the late reply, Ive installed a new cooler on to my system to make sure that the cpu isn't being overheated. As stated above I was on the latest released Bios for that motherboard from gigabytes website. F63a. I downgraded to F62 with no issues. Im running some benchmarks and everyday task to see if maybe i can replicate any of the symptoms. Ive also put the only XMP profile available for my set of ram.

so it's fixed? good job. bios revision can be buggy, you need to report this to gigabyte.

Yeah as for now i haven't seen any crazy issues or blue screens. I do want to note though, I was using a stock cooler on the 5700X, but I changed it for a different cooler. Temp aren't idling at 60s anymore lol. However, is it normal for my cpu to randomly spike in core clocks and then go back down?
