Ok so this is my opinion of the new WP 8.1 update (still just a developer preview). I might have left something out. I have it for about a day.....dont judge :)

I have an HTC Windows Phone 8s.

Update Pros:

  • notofication centre (with quick toggle for four settings at the time. Can be configured for BT, WIFI, brightness, location, plane mode, camera, display share, internet share, vpn, rotation lock. No mobile data option.) You get notifications for mail, apps, sms,...
  • updated stock camera app with better interface and an option to take burst shoots
  • you can now install apps to your SD card
  • You can now make tiles on start screen smaller and with that enable more columns (combinations: 1 big 1 medium | 3 medium | 12 small | 1 big 4 small,... lots of combinations)
  • calendar has some new options/new look (day/month/week/year look)
  • VPN option (havent tested it yet)
  • in the call integrated app you slide to a side and have an option to add contacts for rapid calling
  • people app acting a bit differently (didnt test it with social networks yet) you have an option to only show contacts that have phone numbers
  • the windows store has changed i personally like it, some dont
  • the music app changed. When you re playing something and slide to the side, you no longer change the song but that takes you to your music collection
  • they added a separate radio and podcast apps
  • there is a new battery sense app with some useful options (showing which app consumes most power and an option to enable or disable it to run in background)
  • storage sense app similar to what we had before, but an option to put apps and new transfers on SD card
  • data sense (check your usage, limit your monthly usage, limit backgound usage, etc)
  • IE11, supports more webpages, has some kind of a read option, didnt play with that much yet. But it lets you to go back and forward again by flipping side on screen and not with capacitive/hardware buttons
  • pictures gallery changed looks, there is no longer that beautiful picture background unfortunately

Update Cons

  • cant put maps on an SD card
  • video app doesnt seem to work for me (shows progress bar like it is installing or something and i cant open it at all, even if i restart my phone)
  • if i see right there is a faster battery consumption
  • lower wifi reception (just looking at the bars, otherwise it actually has the same range LOL)
  • display share doesnt seem to work for me over USB connection

But this is just a Developer Preview so I can accept it beeing buggy for now. I hope that when it officially gets out for consumers all of that issues will be fixed.

I you have any comments, suggestions on how ti fix that VideoHub or anything please share :)
