m.2 SSD help

Hi, i have had my crucial m.2 ssd for almost a year now and i took my pc to a repair shop to get some new cpu paste applied and after he had finished he went to boot it up and a message appeared saying "no boot disk found or disk has failed". I had no problems with my SSD before this. He said that there was some sort of update before hand. The m.2 doesnt show in the bios or on windows (i downloaded windows on a sata drive) and i have plugged it in and out, i have also plugged it into an old pc and it works on there and i have managed to retrieve my files. Any help?

I have seen this before, ended up being drive partitioning style. The M.2 Drive was for some reason partitioned in MBR, and the motherboard for some reason only recognised drives in GPT. New motherboard, CSM on. Was doing an upgrade for someone and it was only a CPU Mobo swap, so the NVMe drive being in MBR on the old config was fine but not in the new config. Try checking if the drive if is MBR, if so in the old system try converting in to GPT, just do a google search on "convert boot drive from MBR to GPT" and there are a ton of step by step guides there.

Sorry, is there a way you can make this more simple for me i dont really understand much of what your saying but thank you.

install your ssd into the old machine that works, open windows disk management by typing dskmgmt in the search bar. Select your drive, Right Click, Properties, Volumes. See if it is in MBR or GPT.

If drive is in MBR, try converting it to GPT by following this.

Then try in your system again.

-Intel b250 motherboard

-i5 7500

-gtx 1650

-16gb ram

I will give this ago and ill update you. Thank you. If this doesnt work i am going to take it to professionals at my dads friends repair shop tomorrow.
