Modded Minecraft Server

Im trying to run a server for the Modpack Vault Hunters for my friends and i to play on. I downloaded the mod pack and it seems to have the forge.jar in the files already but when i click that to launch the server nothing happens. When i launch from the minecraft_server.jar it will launch the server and load the world but i am unable to join the world as it says "incompatible vanilla server". I can figure out how to launch it through forge if thats how im supposed to do it. IM brand new to making any type of server.

His video helped alot and i can get most modpacks running now except for the ones that dont have a run.bat file already made. Theres 1 modpack that only has the forge.jar and the vanilla minecraft.jar but it doesnt load anything when i try to launch it through the forge.jar file and launching it through the minecraft.jar launches it into vanilla.
