NOTE: I do not care about your opinion on whether faster RAM is a good way to spend money.

I plan to water cool my ram in my next build, purely for aesthetics. However I understand ram water cooling still does help with ram overclocking.

Here is what I am asking:

Should I get a real low CAS ram such as 1600mhz C7 or something like 2400mhz c10, if I am overclocking my ram?

As you raise clock your timings will go up. 2400mhz C10 is what you might get if you OC the 1600MHz C7. You can try to tighten the timings on the 2400MHz to overclock it, at least you know it's stable at 2400.

Oh really..? Can I tweak timings in the bios? If so, should I go 2400mhz c10 and try to lower the timing or 1600mhz c7 and try to raise the speed?

I suggest asking someone with more experience over-clocking memory. One thing I can say is you won't notice difference in normal PC usage, even if you manage to OC it that much, go for the better looking option.

We'll I'm water cooling it as I said so it won't really matter what it looks like. I feel like faster memory will help in games in coming time as we've seen in BF4, but that's just my opinion. It'll help rendering videos in Sony Vegas I believe, too, but maybe I'm wrong.

For games VRAM is more important. Not sure about vegas.
