You may need to do a bios update, good thing you have a bios flashback usb port. pc part picker goes into a little bit more detail.

How would I know if I have to do a bios update?

so if plug the CPU in and the system doesn't turn on or doesn't recognise the CPU than I have to do a bios update?

and also is it okay to try turn on the machine if the bios software doesn't support the CPU until I flash it?

Your motherboard should have flashing LED lights. Don't quote me for sure, but I think red is CPU not working. This late in the game, I'd be surprised if your motherboard doesn't support the 5000 series out of the box since we're two years after release. Unless you're really unlucky and get a super old board, haha. You'll be fine turning on the machine even if it isn't supported until you flash the BIOS.
