Hey guys need help

My wife and I just bought 2 new quest 2s and we are experiencing major lagging while trying to game, we are using virtual desktop and steam VR but we get crazy lag spikes that make our game unplayable.

We both have similar gaming rigs mine is an i7 9700K OC@5Ghz with a RTX 2070 super, both computers are hard lined to the router and our router is a linksys wrt1900ac, we do have alot on our network including echo dots, light bulbs, a wireless bridge and a CCTV system and even though the lag acts like a local network problem at times I don't see how it could be, I know this problem sounds vague and I probably haven't given all the details needed I am out of ideas to try and any help or suggestions would be awesome

I just recently got a Quest 2. I bought VD assuming it was awesome but so far I can't understand what its purpose is. I can see the Desktop on my PC just fine using the build in desktop viewer in the Q2's interface when connected to Link.

Now, Link vs. Airlink, I also have an old AC router and while its OK sometimes, its not other times so I've just gone back to hardwiring my headset to my PC and its flawless. I don't have the patience to troubleshoot wifi interference, especially not with an old AC router. Your router is 7 years old.

If had a reason to pick up a newer AX/Wifi6 capable router, then I'd expect better performance.

Yeah I understand, and I don't mind buying a new router if thats what I need but I really don't want to drop a few hundred and it not fix the problem, my brothers play at the same time on an all in one gateway from COX so i figured my router could handle it but I don't know

7 years old, lots of wifi devices in the home... yeah, i'm not surprised. not sure about your wireless channel usage, that's something you'd have to investigate and try different ones.

I just kept using the wire, though I play mostly seated and it doesn't bother me.
