Fan Connector Issues

Go to solution Solved by George S,

Fan speed issue resolved. The Phanteks PWM hub has six ports, and there's a specific one to which the first one must go: the white one. That connector was open.

My motherboard is an MSI MAG Tomahawk Max Wi-Fi (X570s chipset), the cooler a Cooler Master ML120L RGB, and the case is a Phanteks Enthoo Pro (tempered glass version).

QUESTION ONE: Fan connections and reporting.

  • Radiator fan goes to CPU_FAN1
  • AIO block goes to PUMP_FAN1
  • Case fan PWM hub goes to SYS_FAN1

The radiator and case fan wires are 4-pin (PWM), and the block fan wire is 3-wire (DC). Now, when I look at the fan data in BIOS, it shows zero RPM for CPU_FAN1 and an RPM value for PUMP_FAN1. I've attached screenshots of this.

Am I missing something here, or is that the opposite of what it should be? What changes, if any, need to be made?

QUESTION TWO: Motherboard connector labels.

The silkscreen labels on the motherboard are, save one exception, clear. The one which isn't, is our friend, PUMP_FAN1. Next to it there's an arrow pointing to the corner of the motherboard, with the word "DIP" right above it; this is not documented anywhere. To me the "DIP" means there's a DIP switch somewhere, but there's none to be found. A picture of this is attached.

What is the relationship between the arrow, "DIP", and header, or some combination thereof? Does any of this have anything to do with the fan issues from question one?
