Keyboard acting up

Okay, so my friend has this really weird problem where his keyboard sometimes act like it's pressing down alt and sometimes it just randomly stops and acts normal (but when acting normalt the alt key doesn't work)? It goes on/off and happens with all keyboards so nothing wrong with the keyboard itself. Any reason to this?

That sounds like good old 'Sticky Keys' to me. We used to mess around in school by setting off sticky keys (initiated by pressing shift five times) to prank people.

See if he can go into the Accessibility Options in the control panel - should be an option to disable it there (in Win 10 etc).

If that's not the answer then it's probably a piece of software or a driver causing it (especially if it's across multiple keyboards).
