To buy or not to buy.

Spovox

I know a guy who just upgraded from a 2080Super to a 3080Ti. He offered to sell me 2080s for 600 usd. I am concerned about a few things.

-Is it worth the price

- will I run into any issues

- what are red flags to look for

- should I wait or spend my money on something else?

 Any help would appreciated

Well if you know him, odds are he won't lie to you.

Ask if he mined with it, and ask when he started using it.

But personally yeah for 600$ that is amazing.

How long has he used it? It's a steal at current price, since scalpers are selling it at around 1k USD. With that type of money, you could buy a 3070 or something else.

In the current market a 2080 Super is more than worth $600. That wouldn't even have been a bad price in late summer/early fall 2019 when people were panic-selling Turing cards.

You say you "know" this guy but it's ambiguous whether are actually friends, or merely casual acquaintances where he could rip you off and then ghost without social repercussions.

Corps aren't your friends. "Bottleneck calculators" are BS. Only suckers buy based on brand. It's your PC, do what makes you happy.  If your build meets your needs, you don't need anyone else to "rate" it for you. And talking about being part of a "master race" is cringe. Watch this space for further truths people need to hear.

The 2080 Super is an impressive card. Not only is it very powerful, but it also unlocks DLSS and ray tracing for you, giving you a lot of flexibility in games. Plus, your GTX 1070 sells for $400-500 on the scalper market, so if you sold that, the upgrade would only cost you $100-200.
