It will depend on which card you have: some cards have the fan as part of the heatsink assembly.

 

Other cards have small phillips screws that you can use to remove the fan.

 

Do you have a picture of the GPU? Do you know what company made it?

Around the world I'm sure someone still uses one.

As to removing the fan, it will depend on who makes the card.

Best to post a pic of the GPU and we can take it from there.
