Budget : $5000 USD

Country: USA

Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: Unreal Engine 5 for game development, graphic arts from multiple programs, motion capture, video animations, gaming (i don't need to play on highest settings but, it would be nice if I can test my own creations in 4k)

Other details:  I tried piecing together some things I think would allow me to work efficiently and be quiet enough to not interfere with voice recording in the same room. Thus the "be quiet" choices that may or may not have enough space for everything. I'm struggling whether or not to bite the bullet on overpriced graphics right now. No one can predict when the price will go down but, it certainly makes my stomach hurt paying 2-3x MSRP.

I only need to run 1 monitor but if I can run 2, why not? I can be very patient time wise and will probabaly try to clutch some black Friday/cyber Monday deals. I can wait longer if it makes sense to save more.

My friends say I should consider a threadripper CPU I just don't know if that's overkill? I want high end but I don't want to max my budget for little performance increase.

I believe the RM850X (2018) or (2019) is a quieter PSU.

DDR4-3600 CL16 should offer marginally better performance, especially in renders.

Personally, I would get a less expensive motherboard like the MSI MAG X570 TOMAHAWK WIFI. I'd also go for a smaller case, something like the Meshify 2 Compact.

So I am looking up the parts you've mentioned, the motherboard is still compatible and cheaper which is cool.

The power supply is extremely popular with over 8000 reviews. A surprising number of them appear to be duds though. Either it works great forever or it catches things on fire hahaha. I might need to poke around some more to see if they just got from a bad supplier.

Thank you for pointing out the CL16. I will dig into finding low latency ram.

It is probably the most popular PSU so no surprise there appears to be more complaints. Also check dates. The initial rmx offering (pre 2018 if I recall correctly) definitely had a lot of issues. The 2021 is also getting very good reviews but is a touch louder.
