Minecraft-PC related issues

So I'm simply trying to set up a Minecraft experience for my girlfriend and I, to me this means a simple modpack and a working minecraft. I've had problems with this in the past but I'm playing on a MSI GS65 stealth with a ninth gen core i-7 and a GTX 1660 Ti graphics card. When I try and set up the shaders for Minecraft I can only use the super basic ones or else my game will lag suuuper bad.
