Purchasing Ram suggestions

It says single channel

I am confused normally the slots are referred as single or dual channel

And you can put whatever u want 

But this says single channel ram and another variant of it says dual channel ram and is 1k more 

What is it will the single channel ram will not support dual channel

Or for dual channel i should have to use dual channel ram ?
