Help with PC build. (PSU & GPU)

Need help with finishing touches to a pc build. 
 

I have a asus 3080 oc graphics card and a Corsair rm 850x power supply unit. 
 

I need help with the power supply cables, I’m not sure if I’m putting the cables in correctly. I have 2 8pins split into 2 pairs of 6+2 PCIE cables. I’m not sure which way they go into my power supply to my gpu. Please message if you have any suggestions. Btw I have extensions for the cables. 
 

if possible can someone send me a picture of which way the cables go and into which ports?

The side with only one connector is the one that goes into your PSU.

If I have 2 pcie cables and then I put extensions on the split cables I will have one left over. I have 3 8 pin ports on my gpu and there are 4 6+2pin ports for the gpu, will it still work, does is matter if I leave one unplugged?

With modular power supplies you can leave some ports on the PSU unused.

On the GPU it is a better practice to use a separate cable for each port, however using "pig tail" or daisy chain plug on one of the cables is also possible, though not advisable.

 

TL:DR use three separate cables to connect GPU to the PSU and tie down the "pig tails" to the main cable body for each of the cables to keep those "pig tails" out of the way. Keep one PSU slot empty.
