Normal. While plugged into the wall, the laptop doesn't need to be as efficient / power saving and can use more power to get more performance. More power usage means more waste heat -> warmer heatsink -> fans need to spin faster to make the heatsink radiate more heat.

 

TL:DR (or more like Too Confusing, Didn't Read) is that you use more power and the computer gets hotter because it doesn't need to considor the battery life, higher tempratures makes the fan spin faster.

 

If you want it to be quiet instead of it feeling somewhat snappier, try going to the power settings of Windows and change the profile down while plugged in. I would guess it's at "High Performance", maybe turn it to "Balanced" or even "Power Saving".

 

The power settings are located in the Control Panel, find some guide online with screenshots and navigate your way to the options.
