On the intel page the I7 4770k says memory support 1333/1600mhz.

On the compatible motherboard Z87M-G43 memory support is up to 3000mhz....WOAH!!!

I want to get 4x4GB Crucial tracers. On Amazon tho 1866mhz CL9 is $99.99 and the 1600mhz CL8 is 106.99$

Im just curious if say the motherboard can see a 1866 module fine but the cpu can only talk back and forth at 1600mhz max???

And whether or not the 1866 is a better buy than the 1600 with cl8, cl9??

I want a casual meeting with an Elephant, Orangutan, Crow and a Bottlenose Dolphin.

While i would go for a 2x8gb kit i'd recommend the 1866 cl 9 over the 1600mhz cl8 because of the lower price. One CL less will give you about the same performance as another speed up. It's 1333, 1600, 1866,  2133, 2400, 2666, 2800 and so on. So a CL 7 1333 mhz kit will give you about the same performance as a CL10 2133mhz kit.

Hmm, i just wanted to populate all the dimms to make it look pretty, but would 4x4gb 1866 think as fast or slower than 2x8gb 1600????

local pc shop was like uhhhh/hmmmm

As i said there will be practially no diffrence. I'd still recommend to for a dual kit because then you can upgrade to 32 Gb once it's needed and aren't limited to 16.
