I need a new 2-in-1 for school. all I need is something that will run simple CAD files in solidworks and badly written python scripts.

I already have a good PC at home I will use it only for taking notes at school and for solid and python classes.

asking because a dedicated GPU will hurt battery life severely.

will a 11th gen i7 with integrated graphics be enough or should I go for something with a dedicated GPU?

It’ll be fine for the majority of casual solidworks use, you would only really want a dgpu for gpu accelerated rendering of more complex designs or simulation

For a baseline, I was able to do CNC simulation with real time thermals and chip/coolant dispersion with just an i5 7200U with intel HD620

Now it got noticeably faster with the addition of a Quadro M4000 egpu but it wasn’t a necessity by any means, that’s a hell of a task in autodesk fusion 360 to run on igpu but it held up

Current gen igpu and better mobile processors won’t have any issues with solidworks outside of extreme use cases.

thanks, it helps a lot
