memory mhz

Forum, i have a asus rog strix z270h gaming motherboard, a i7-6700k, 2x8gb 3000mhz rated gskill ram in my pc. but can i use the 3000mhz or can i only use 2133mhz bc of the motherboard or the cpu

Your memory rated for 3000 MHz is basically an "overclock profile" saved in XMP. If you apply the XMP profile, it will technically overclock your memory, but it's factory-tested for that so should work.

Z270 motherboards allow uncapped ram speeds, 3000MHz is pretty common for a setup like this.

i7 8086k - EVGA Z370 Classified K - G.Skill Trident Z RGB - WD SN750 - Jedi Order Titan Xp - Hyper 212 Black (with RGB Riing flair) - EVGA G3 650W - dual booting Windows 10 and Linux - Black and green theme, Razer brainwashed me.

Draws 400 watts under max load, for reference.

 

How many watts do I needATX 3.0 & PCIe 5.0 spec, PSU misconceptions, protections explainedgroup reg is bad
