Bitlocked after BSOD

Hello everyone. 

 

I have an Asus UX430U and it recently blue screened on boot with the error "Kernel Data Inpage Error" then when it reached 100% went to another bluescreen saying that the error was "0xC0000185". On reboot always the same error. 

 

I couldn't get past the error or get a boot to windows even after attempting boot repairs through the command prompt using a W10 USB. Eventually tried removing the hard drive and putting it in my desktop to discover that it was Bitlocked, I bought the laptop new and I never enabled bitlocker.

 

I screwed in the ssd back onto the laptop and booted up, error on boot is gone but now it just boots to a screen asking for bitlocker recovery key. Which I don't have, because I never enabled bitlocker.

 

Any ideas?

You may not realize that Bitlocker was enabled, it's sort of sneaky that way, especally if it gets enabled during initial setup. If you used a microsoft account I would check and see if it got stored there using this link.

Otherwise not much else you can do than wipe the drive and start over.

Hi, thanks for the reply. I don't have any keys anywhere. In the meantime I also contacted microsoft and they also said there's nothing that can be done. Wipe is the way to go unfortunately. Although this is a pretty big sign that the laptop wasn't great to begin with, it was already behaving weird the last couple of weeks.
