Graphics card budget ($200 US)

Country: America

Games, programs or editing.

I have a Radeon headache 6970 2gb graphics card. My budget is $200 US for a graphics card and I bought this one for $100 was it worth it.

Does it run games decently.

Should I sell it and buy a better one?

I am building a rig and I am putting a intel core i5-9600

You already bought it, so spilled milk.

Imo the 69xx series really falls off the speed nowadays but as long as you keep settings reasonable and abuse steam refunds to see if it can even run, you should be fine with it until the GPU shortage ends. But at 800, you can do with an even better PC to host that GPU imo.

Just slap something like 3070 or 3080 when the GPU shortage is over and youre a tad better financially and you can call it a day for few years.

I tested this card,it runs Battlefield 3,Assassin's Creed Brotherhood, and Resident Evil 6,Skyrim,Fortnite and GTA V decently,

But don't expect it to run Cyberpunk 2077 or Red Dead Redemption 2.

The HD 6970 is close to the performance of an RX 460, except it consumes a lot more power.

It’ll play lighter games fine, CSGO or whatever, but it’s not gonna handle current titles all too well.

From my experience with the card it can run some current day titles, especially ESports titles.

I do think it was a ripoff and if OP couldve hold himself together long enough he could cobble through ebay and online stores for a few week for a good condition 1650 super at 120$ or below, failing that a low end pascal or maxwell quadros at 150$ mark which should be like a cut down 1060 or 1050Ti.
