Hi I installed my new gpu rtx 3090 suprim x the pc boots up it shows the bios image but it wont boot from the ssd or any bootable device and I cant go to bios setup or anything else it tries to boot to the ssd then it restarts when i install the old gpu it boots fine

I have a desktop cpu: intel i7 3960x

mb: gigabyte g1 assassin2 bios v f11

ram: 16gb

psu: 1200w

os: win 10 x64 v2004

That motherboard is 9 years old. 

 

Pci-e as a standard CAN be backward compatible so long as a device either currently works or support is added for it. But on a board that old I wouldnt expect it to be compatible without some form of issue. 

 

Theres no reason to be using the 3090 on that old of a build anyway so uninstall it and wait until the platform of that machine is replaced.
