Hi all, I have an old pc (7/8 years except for the gpu and hdd), I'll leave here the specs:
CPU: Intel Core i5 3330 (4core/4threads)
RAM: Corsair LP 1600MHz (2x8gb)
MOBO: Asus P8 H77 V-LE
PSU: Cooler Master 750w 80plus
GPU: Gigabyte Windforce GTX 970
STORAGE:
- SSD OCZ Vertex3 128gb (for windows)
- HDD Seagate Barracuda 1tb (for data and games)

The hdd recently started going 100% usage with no read or write for like 1 minute bursts while gaming (experienced on COD Warzone, R6 Siege and Forza Horizon 4). During this bursts the games obviusly freeze for that period of 1 minute or so.
I bought the hdd 2 years ago new, I thought of bad sectors and replaced the hdd with a new one (same model), but the problem persisted.

Things that I already tried:
- Fresh windows 10 install
- Disabling Paging on the hdd (leaving it only on the SSD)
- Moving the HDD sata connector to another port on the MOBO

I uploaded a screenshot of the task manager monitoring hdd performance. You can notice the periods where the usage is at 100% but there is no read or write happening.
I also noticed that every time the hdd "stucks" or "unstucks" it makes a strange noise (like it's starting spinning from idle).

Could it be a motherboard problem at this point?

Thanks in advance.

As stated in the main post I was playing COD Warzone, R6 Siege and Forza Horizon 4. In all those games happened, but I know that at least R6 and Forza run really well before. Also I disabled paging on the Hdd.
