so i'm not really confused with USB, i am confused with thunderbolt tier, so i do know usb 1.0-3.2 gen 2x2 and USB 4 as well, but i am confused with thunderbolt placement for them, i know usb c is usb 3.1, 3.2, 3.2 gen 2 and 3.2 gen 2x2 so what thunderbolt tier each gen has ?

Thunderbolt 1 and 2 had their own connectors based on mini displayport, they are kind of outdated at this point. Thunderbolt 3 and 4 are USB C. Thunderbolt 3 and 4 are similar with no speed increases but with a few additional features. Intel offered at least for Thunderbolt 3, 3 types of controllers, which you can see on the image below. As for USB standards, there is one more, USB4 which is based of the Thunderbolt 3 specification and is backwards compatible with USB 3.2, 2.0 and compatible with Thunderbolt 3.
