I recently bought an XFX Radeon RX 6800 XT Merc 319 for my gaming rig, and I've been looking into VR headsets because I want to play Beat Sabre and Half Life Alyx. At the moment I am leaning towards the Oculus Quest 2 because it is not as expensive as others and I don't want to mess around with external sensors. Like many RDNA 2 cards, my card has a USB C output which is often referred to in relation to VR, and if I understand correctly is some sort of implementation of VirtualLink which is "dead" but simultaneously "not dead"? My main question is whether there is any documentation available anywhere about what this port does, what it is compatible with etc. i.e. could I use it to connect a Quest 2 via Oculus Link?

if you are really into playing games like beat saber i think that having external sensors is going to be important for you..

i know my headset with inbuildt sensors are a "poor" one for tracking, i have the HP Reverb G2 use it for sim driving at it is perfect there, with the high fidelity..

BUT the tracking of hand sensors are not great, because the headset cannot see them all the time, and for games like beat saber, this is a BIG issue.. for the rest it is fine...

Beat sabre is one of the games I want to try out because it looks like something I can do casually, I'm not planning to become a pro or anything. This would be my first foray into PC VR outside of academic applications and I'm not entirely sure that it's something I'm going to enjoy enough to spend much more than the price range of the the quest 2. As far as I can tell all the headsets with outside-in tracking technology are considerably more expensive? Plus the added convenience of not having external sensors.

it is just especially in that game annoying when you completely loose track of hands.. and i do that A LOT with the G2 the game is close to unplayable.
