Upgrade C drive

My current C drive is a 120gb SSD and it is simply too small. I have a 250 gb ssd lying around, is there a way to simply copy the data onto it, make it my new c drive, and then simply swap the boot options in the bios and have it work easily?

Clone it,  done.  The 250 will be the exact copy, it'll boot off of without any issue or change.  Then add the 120 in, it'll be added as D:\ and non booting.

 

Macrium Reflect is free.  Depending on your drive brands, manufacturers have cloning software to use if you have their products.

is there a way to make it so that the C drive itself is bigger? This is because there are quite a few applications that I use that have large caches in the C drive regardless of where I install them

What exact programs?  I don't use any that have large caches, but someone else may know how to have the caches on a second drive.

 

No way to make your C:\ drive larger that I know of, without wiping it first and going RAID or JBOD.

 

I'd personally clone the drive, use the 250 as your C, and then get a larger HDD or SSD for secondary storage.

When you do the cloning, you can make the C partition bigger filling the rest of the empty space in the 250gb drive.

Macrium doesn't make a partition, so your C drive will be the entire 250GB.

On a typical windows 10 drive, the C drive will not have the entire disk capacity.

I'm not following.  When I install Windows 10 on my machine, the entire 500GB SSD is the C:\ drive.
