Laptop battery

No, there are several circuits inside both the laptop and battery itself that will prevent it from charging beyond what it considers 100%.

That said, you will shorten the life of the battery by using the laptop while plugged in. So, if you can I would avoid using the laptop while plugged in. I understand that this is not always possible.

That is kind of a myth with more modern systems, or at least the problem is greatly exhaggerated. I wouldn't worry too much about it.
