I'm in a holding pattern to purchase an AMD Ryzen CPU due to high prices.

I have all components for the ASRock X570 Taichi motherboard. Due to pricing, I'm still searching for a best choice of cpu for audio production. Hopefully someone has built a system that performs great at 48K/32bit and at least 256 buffer latency.

I was leaning toward the 5950X but the price is being scalped at 3x retail.

I would appreciate feedback on cpu choices from other users. Thanks

..And if yes, what parts?

Not a pro, not even very good.  I’m just old and have time currently.  Assuming I know a lot about computers can be a mistake.

That could be helpful ☺️

All parts have arrived and waiting anxiously for a cpu.

1-Asrock X570 Taichi

2-GSkill F4_3200C16Q 128gb

3-Thunderbolt AIC R2.0 card

4-Gamemax RGB-850 power supply

5-Scythe Ninja5 SCNJ5000

cooler

6-Radeon RX560 P4SSJ5 Graphics

7-Cooler Master HAF XB EVO LAN Box/Mid Tower Computer Case

And a closet full of surplus, as most people☺️

Thanks for your help and opinions.

Also, I am open to a cheaper/functional alternative, till prices come down, while I wait for the 1st choice cpu. Then take the useable, cheaper alternative to move over to my Vienna Ensemble Pro7 server.

Thanks

Yes, for audio only.

My understanding is audio doesn’t actually need very much. The only complication is that low latency can be important. You’ve gone pretty much to the wall with that hardware though.  My suspicion is that as a temporary cpu anything that the tai chi bios has code for that you could get a good deal on would be fine.  I don’t know what is in the bios.  My understanding is that code for older chips was removed.  I don’t know how far back it went.

At the moment it comes down to availability. You would probably be fine with a 5600X, but a 5800X or 5900X would be very good choices.

Your memory choice is not optimal. DDR4-3600 CL16 would have been better.

80+ ratings certify electrical efficiency. Not quality.
