I remember watching a video of LTT, I believe, and linus spoke about drilling a hole in a cpu to bypass a certain function or security feature and I can't quite renner the video it was on. Not sure the exacts of what was being discussed but I know that wasn't the purpose of the video and I know they didn't do it either. I believe it had something to do with some security feature.

Maybe you're referring to some video about Spectre and/or Meltdown? I'm also finding videos (not from LTT) that mention it on various phones/ARM SOCs.
