3080 GPU Randomly "Disconnecting" - Help!

Go to solution Solved by Banethor,

Just as an update for anyone interested, I think it might be related to the NZXT CAM software update issue. Apparently there are conflicts between CAM and other monitoring software like Razer Synapse. I have disabled Razer Synapse and uninstalled HWInfo and it seems to not have crashed for a while so far.

As of 3 days ago, my GPU started randomly "disconnecting".

The dual monitors lose signal and go black.

My NZXT Kraken Z63 AIO Cooler display shows me that the GPU is at 0 deg celsius.

The GPU still appears to be "switched on" and has lights/power. SOMETIMES (20% chance?), when this happens, the GPU fans go to MAX.

The PC still appears to be operational (although I can hear that my games have crashed). No blue screen, no error (maybe I don't know how to read the event viewer?)

I am forced to restart. The issue seems to be more easily replicable when the GPU is underload, but it has happened randomly without much running in the bg.

The issue started happening after I have made the following changes:

  • Update NZXT CAM to 4.2.1
  • Reinstall Nvidia Control Panel
  • Update GeForce Experience and Drivers to 461.72

Since then I tried using DDU to rollback to 461.40 but the problem persists.

I have not overclocked my PC in any way and everything is brand new and has been working beautifully for 3 months.
