RAM Upgrade for Thinkpad E595

Hey,

 

I am having some issues running Civ VI and streaming the game in Discord at the same time on my laptop. I currently have 8GB of memory and using Ubuntu MATE 20.10 as my OS on a SATA SSD. Would it be worth it to upgrade the ram to a 16GB 3200Mhz 2 stick kit? Or am I missing something with regards to performance? Is there another bottleneck i am not seeing?

Let me clarify - When I run Discord and Civ VI at the same time, after a significant period of time, my system crashes and stops responding. This occurs faster when I stream through to Discord on Civ VI.

I only have a singe stick of RAM. Would Dual Channel help out?

I checked the stick I had in my system... It was a 2666 module
