But I don't see how putting in the wrong ssd would make it not start at all? Like even after taking it out, thanks it's probably sata I'm going to go with what the manufacturer says. But it's linda stupid they would have a M key but not support AHCI / NVME. ASUS FTW

So I recently purchased an NVME ssd, and put it into my Asus A507u laptop (X507u for global), and now it won't even boot, the power light is on but the battery light blinks two long times in intervals,

What could be the problem amd how would I solve it?

Bevause apparently I bought the wrong ssd and mine only supported m.2

Could it be that the NVME ssd made my laptop become like this?

I've sent it to the repair centre but really as a student I would want to know if they're cheating me. Money is tight nowadays, can't afford to soend that much. So.I just need some advice and help in knowing roughly what's the problem and how much it will cost so I don't get scammed.

M.2 is the physical form factor/interface. M.2 can support SATA and NVMe drives using either AHCI or NVMe protocol. They are not inter-compatible, so SATA drives do not work in NVMe-only slot and NVMe drives won't work in SATA-only slot. Some laptops also have slots that support both.

Looking at specs here https://www.asus.com/Laptops/For-Home/All-series/ASUS-X507/techspec/, it seems that this laptop only supports SATA M.2 SSDs. NVMe drives won't work. It should work fine when you take the SSD out.

But after taking it out it still refused to turn on, I do hope it was only a momentary thing because changing parts would be so deadlt expensive for me rn 🥴

Did I accidentally damage any parts? Or is it normal for it to actually take a while before turning back on without the ssd in?

Just remembered, that SATA and NVMe M.2 drives also have different key on the physical socket. What key(s) does the socket have and what key(s) does the drive have?

Welp there goes my time, effort and money 😔 Lesson learnt. Btw AHCI looks different in searches so is probably sata 3.( which sucks ).

Oh I do hope they fix it within 2 days because I have an assignment submission next week and it's 40% complete but not backed up in cloud 🥴 screw online Uni ❤️

@Tan3l6 @jj9987 Guess what?

Nothing was wrong.......

Ram oxidation

The IT Guy literally just used an eraser to rub of any oxidation on the contact pins LMAO

and it did support NVME, so the ssd I bought isn't wasted, had nothing to do with battery, the motherboard, static, wrong ssd or hard drive failure 🥴.

He also didn't charge me Phew saved the lunar new year money I got 🧧 Thanks again for the help!

SHE LIVES
