Ireland First Time New Build

Budget (including currency): About €1,500.00

Country: Ireland

Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: 1080p gaming. Warhammer 1-3, LOL, Star Wars Battlefront 2, then mainly retro games (5 year old+)  .

Other details

Would be grateful for any feedback particularly graphics cards?

Should I get

a) get a stopgap say 2gb until things calm down/get by with the i5 processors built in video card and get a 8gb when things calm down

b) get a 4gb from Germany/France for €200-300 (tariffs too high from UK suppliers)

Knowledge wouldn't be great but have done a bit of research the last few weeks. Parts in Ireland seem to be particularly expensive when compared elsewhere. Went with a few things slightly higher than required such as PSU and Mobo for re use in potential upgrades.

Thanks in advance

Id reshuffle some stuff. Personally I would change the 10400 to a 9600k https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07HHLX1R8/ref=twister_B08Q4JC662?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1 while your upgrade path might not be as good the performance for gaming should be better and you can overclock. Im american and im not sure the exchange rate but I beleive the 9600k is cheaper too. It would also allow you to buy a cheaper mobo as z390 is cheaper than z490. then you would have the money left in your budget to buy a better graphics card.

Why a 9600k? It's on a dead platform and it has no HT.

Upon looking at the rest of your build there are a few more important things. you chose 1x16 ram. Id suggest getting 2x8 at 2666 (the limit for either proccesor once you go over 2666 you get diminishing returns on intel cpus) if you need to lower the price. Id also suggest going for a legit but not bought from microsoft windows copy in order to save 100+ euros. Your power supply also appears to be pretty overkill not in wattage but 80+ gold and fully modular probably isnt a great choice for this budget. With the extra money you save from these you could likely upgrade to a 2060 if you get lucky with restocks. Hopefully this helps

He isnt planning on doing any cpu intensive workloads and itll save him a buck with better gaming performance than the 10400

The 10400f is a much better CPU. Has the same gaming performance but it's on an alive platform, it has HT, and its alot cheaper in his country.

The 9600K is not a good choice.

This is a much better optimised list but you are at budget and haven't included the OS or monitor which will add another 300 most likely. At that point you are way overbudget. And that system is pretty overkill for what he needs

At stock it definately has similar performance but once you go into overclocks the 9600k blows it out of the water. He could likely get a 1+ Ghz overclock since the 9600k is so easy.

Don't pay $130 for the OS. Huge waste of money. Either buy a cheap key or don't activate windows. I would never recommend buying a retail key at full price.

Buying a 9600K is still a bad idea. The 9600ks lack of HT is a huge deal breaker. At that price point just go with a Ryzen 5 3600.

Also the 10400f is 70 less. 9600K is still a terrible buy.

I also suggested to buy a cheap key (also KMSpico is pretty usefull if you cant buy any key) but the monitor would still hurt a lot for the budget. And if you have a 3070 and a 5600 youre gonna want to run higher than 1080p 75fps lol

Idk Ireland prices rip. I just know that 200 euros is way higher than the price of a 9600k for me. Probably 3600 yeah.
