Homegroup replacement? Program for LAN file sharing?

My laptop runs Win10 Home, which apparently does not support LAN file sharing through windows explorer. I have tried sharing folders using multiple guides and my laptop just does not see my desktop over LAN. A friends laptop with win10 pro can file share with my desktop just fine.

 

From my laptop, I want to be able to unpack .rar files on my desktop and then stream the video file over LAN. I tried Plex but it does not let me unpack rar files

 

Is there a program that works like file sharing through windows explorer? ty for any help

You be able to make and access network folder, If that does not work for whatever reason try FTP or HTTP servers

Just install TeamViewer and you will have remote desktop access. Or better yet, dump Windblows entirely and install Linux Mint and you won't have all the "we are microshaft and we want to make you pay us to have access to stuff that has been accessible for many years until now. PAY US!!!!"
