Hi guys

just a quick question i recently upgraded my pc and got an ssd for boot and my old hdd for games, today was my first time hearing this. So i was doing literally nothing just sitting at my desk and  when i went to open 'my pc' my hdd's head sounded like it's head just turned on.

So i just wanted to ask if it's just that my HDD is smart and knows that i am not using it and shuts down and when i need it it starts working again.

Thanks in advance.

Yes. The HDD will spin down if it isn't accessed for a while. The time is configurable in windows' power settings.

Main: AMD Ryzen 7 5800X3D, Nvidia GTX 1080 Ti, 16 GB 4400 MHz DDR4 Linux - Fedora
