AM/FM antenna?

minimoose

On the back of my receiver there is a thing for a radio antenna, but I don't know what kind I am supposed to get, it is an old receiver, I heard you could turn a coaxial cable into an antenna, is this true and how?

The coaxial cable will work, thats for FM,

for AM its the weird standup round square antenna

cut both sides and strip the ends, plug it into the receiver and the other end doesnt have to be plugged in(just adjust it/put it anywhere.)
