Hi Everyone,

After building my PC, I got an issue with keeping my display going black. After installing the graphics driver for intel (got a i5-10400) I get a black screen. I checked compatibilities with the motherboard, ram, memory and it's fine. The screen only goes black after I try to update the VGA/Graphics driver. It seems to work just fine with the Microsoft basic driver. I have no graphics card only using integrated graphics until I can get a card. Intel isn't providing many answers either. Please help!

Form what is happening it seems to me some incompatibility between the integrated graphics and the driver you are trying to install. If you are running the latest build of Windows 10 it will actually find and install on its own the latest version of missing drivers. Perhaps it might be a good idea to give it a go instead of trying to do it manually.

I've tried doing that. Even tried the drivers that MSI's motherboard site recommended. I have an MSI MPG Z490M, I'm currently at a loss.

Is there a reason why you don't want to use the Basic driver Microsoft provides? When are you getting your actual graphics card. If it is in a week or two, I guess you can still use the computer this way. Also, I checked that board and it has two outputs on the back - DP and HDMI, have you tried switching ot the other outup when the screen goes black after the driver installation?

No reason really, I just saw this as bizarre. I'm on a waiting list for a graphics card (who knows when I'll get it!), so I was hoping to use my computer and do a little gaming. I tried switching from DP to HDMI, still no luck. I noticed errors for the driver installation, when it gets to the end, it just goes black. Seems like a common problem with laptops, but it's a desktop. 😕
