I am upgrading my build and will be running:

- 5900x (overclocked)

- Asus x570 Mobo

- GTX970 g1 (might be upgrading down the track to a 2000x or 3000x series GPU)

- 6 Sata drives,

I have running a 850w XFX Gold from 2015 from my old build which I plan on reusing. However, since I am running new hardware, i am wondering if I need to upgrade my PSU as well?

I have had no issues at all with this PSU.

What is the PSU specifically?

According to Amazon that psu released in 2013 and psus last 5-10 years. It’s one of those things where you ask yourself spend 100$ or risk something else.

Should work quite well. Wattage is good, 80+ Gold, and it’s A tier on the PSU Tier list.
Should be fine.

I just checked my purchase history - I actually purchased this psu in 2014 and have had it running for almost every day since, mutli hour use a day. Will this pose a problem?

If your only upgrading to a 5900x right now, it will be completely fine. If you get a 3070 or 3060ti the PSU would also be fine aswell, although if you get a 3080 or 3090 later on and you have the budget I guess you may aswell upgrade.

If it were me I would, if it’s not in your budget don’t worry about it (but upgrade not before to long)
