Budget (including currency): £400

Country: UK

Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: Elite Dangerous, Baldur's Gate 3, Doom Eternal.

Other details (existing parts lists, whether any peripherals are needed, what you're upgrading from, when you're going to buy, what resolution and refresh rate you want to play at, etc):

So I have a very limited budget and I already have an old gaming rig, I'm wondering about what would be the best upgrades to go for.

Rig: https://uk.pcpartpicker.com/list/QBKLfP

Gigabyte GA-B85-HD3 ATX LGA1150 Motherboard

Intel Core i5-4670 3.4 GHz Quad-Core Processor (stock cooler)

Kingston HyperX 16 GB (4 x 4 GB) DDR3-1600 CL9 Memory (I'm not sure if this is the exact kit but its at least similar)

Zotac GeForce GTX 960 4 GB AMP Video Card

Storage: 1Tb ssd + a 1Tb mechanical

The PSU is a corsair 750W gold (I believe)

screen is a 32" 1440p 144hz (would like to run a second if possible while gaming)

Given the lack of budget I don't believe that a fresh system can really be built, I'm wondering whether spending a bit to up the cpu to i7 or gpu to 1080ti would be the best approach.

I was pondering pushing the ram up to 32Gb but I don't think that's really a limit of the system.

Thank you for your help!

That's a biiig monitor for such a little GPU. First and foremost you'll need the GPU.

I wouldn't bother upgrading to a i7-4770, put that money towards saving for a platform upgrade, which will help you much more towards that 144 Hz mark.

32 GB of RAM will not help you, and will essentially be wasted money if you buy DDR3.

Main: AMD Ryzen 7 5800X3D, Nvidia GTX 1080 Ti, 16 GB 4400 MHz DDR4 Linux - Fedora
