Hello,

I've just build my first PC and I don't know how to fix it. When I try to move the mouse the whole screen just starts freaking out by flashing the entire screen. It can't be the monitor because every monitor I've tried had the same prob. At first I thought it was the Power supply because it seems like it wasn't getting enough power. I upgraded power supplies but that didn't help. I also tried with 2 different GPUs, a 2080Ti and a 1080Ti both had the same issue. I've also tried replacing the motherboard but nothing seems to work. I don't know if it's a hardware issue or a software issue, I'm just kinda tired because I've spent a long time trying to fix it but nothings worked. If anyone has anything they like to share it would be very appreciated. If you have any questions let me know.

Ryzen 7 + Stock cooler

2080Ti/1080Ti

B550 Tomahawk

32 gigs of ram

Thank you,

Prof

@Prof_plays Did you try a different monitor cable too?

@TehDwonz Yes I have also tired a different cable. I've been testing it mostly with display ports but the same thing happens if it's with a HDMI as well.

Ok, thought I'd check :) Good to rule out the cheap options first.

How about another mouse? Is it a wired or wireless mouse? Maybe even just try a different USB port.

I gave it to a friend of mine and it happens on other mice we both used wireless mice so idk if it works with a wired one. But sometimes it doesn't happen when I move the mouse and it will just freeze then the screen will go black for a few seconds and sometimes it will just restart randomly with no BSOD.

I would say to re-seat everything in the motherboard, but you've done that by changing motherboard already. Check the RAM module contacts are clean, and the CPU pins are all there? Could be some bad RAM - try just one stick at a time and move it between slots?

I've already check the CPU pins, which are all there and not bent, I've also did have a problem with the memory but I have the memory problem fixed. During the memory problem I've check all the sticks of ram and all the slots which are all clean.

Ok, can you try a few things?

1) Open task manager, and move the mouse pointer within the bounds of the window - does it still flicker? If not, it might be some incompatible app. If it does still do it then...
2) Check your nvidia control panel, and go to change resolution. On that panel, you should see the following:

Make sure the output format is RGB, and set the depth to 8-bit if it's 10, with full dynamic range.

If that doesn't fix it, it might be worth using DDU to remove all trace of the drivers and reinstall the latest ones? Though the machine resetting itself is an oddity - I take it you have automatic restart turned off so that you would see a bluescreen if one occurred?
