Best gaming headset <$70

I’m looking for a decent headset for gaming that would be more immersive. I have some Sony ones which are fine but they get uncomfortable after a while and aren’t meant for gaming. I’d like something with surround sound. Is that good to have? I don’t know much about headsets. Thanks for all your help!

Hello there. I consider surround sound overrated, not bad, but overrated - and while its awesome to have a good Dolby Atmos setup in the room (Home Theater), it makes no sense to me to have it in headphones, again especially on a tight budget. It usually comes down to multiple little speaker placement in headphones or a very hard software processing which further ruins the audio quality and gives you some kind of a virtual surround effect. Audio being "immersive" is very subjective, audio equipment is always best tested by your own ears. I can suggest you checking the price of "Sennheiser GSP300", they deliver great sound for their price... I hope they wont be much out of your budget, pretty awesome gaming headphones and you can wear them for hours to come.

What about the razer kraken tournament edition? Is that better or worse?

Personally, I never liked the sound of Kraken, it's too spicy for my taste, meaning, the sound signature is oversaturated with boosted bass and frequencies overall, plus that simulated spatial audio. It depends on your liking - if you want a boost and kick in lower frequencies (bass), and simulated virtual surround, Kraken is a way to go. If you prefer clean and balanced sound across all spectrum, much more natural like, pick HyperX Cloud 2 or Sennheiser GSP300, you will hear everything you need to while gaming or listening to the music in much more pleasant and natural presentation.

No no no. I was talking to a friend of mine. He absolutely hates razer's headphones. The bass is really bad and muddy and overpoweres all other sounds. The HyperX cloud 2's are a reskin of studio headphones which actually sound great and it has a mic as well that is removable. Don't ever buy razer's crap products.

EDIT: He has to use them right now and he absolutely can't game with them in for example CS:GO and other games. He will buy a Sound Blaster and a pair of DT 990 pros.
