MoBo vram limit

I was browsing some motherboards to see what would be the best system you could build for €500, when I came across a 'maximum video ram' field. I have never heard of anything like that - is there a vram limit on a motherboard or is that solely for the iGPU?

motherboards have a ram limit.

But i haven`t heard before of a vram limit on a mobo.

If I am false please correct me :)

I wouldn't imagine there's a limit on the vram for a discrete video card based on a motherboard. The only memory limit that's really there is the amount you can install in a motherboard and the amount you can share with the integrated graphics. That's about it.

Must be a different interpretation of the maximum amount of ram.

thanks for your replys guys ;). it's a different number than the normal ram limit, but i will interpret it like a integrated gpu limit then.

Can't really imagine motherboards having a video ram limit, it'll pretty much depend on the card you use.
