5900x underperforming single core

Hi,

Long time lurker, first time poster. I hope I'm doing this right.

I recently received my 5900x. Quite happy so far, mostly using for video editing and gaming on the side.

Like with every new build, I ran a few benchmarks. And I noticed that I can't quite reach the advertised 4.8ghz boost clock in single core. The CPU sits between 4.5 and 4.6ghz. And doesn't reach benchmark scores from the reviews. (598 in Cinebench R20)

The cpu reaches 4.4Ghz on multi-thread and the benchmark score are on par with what's been published in reviews. (8513 in Cinebench R20)

XMP and PBO are enabled.
My temperatures never go over 78C on load.
Is it just bad luck in the silicon lottery or am I missing something?

  • Noctua DH15
  • Gigabyte x570 Pro
  • 2x 16Gb Corsair Vengeance LPX 3600
  • 1To Samsung 980 pro
  • GTX 1080
