So I just got done putting together some old and new parts for a build I'm doing for my cousin's son. I finally went to turn it on and the only thing that happens is the RGB RAM lights up when I press the power button, and nothing else. No fans spin, the RGB fans don't light up, and nothing on screen. Could this just be something I forgot to plug in or plugged into the wrong spot? The only thing I could think of is maybe the 4-pin cpu plug is the wrong 4 pin since it's an 8 pin split in half and maybe I put the wrong half into the CPU power? Anyways, here's what in the build; https://pcpartpicker.com/list/kLW4p2

Double-check your cabling, internal and external. Internal 4-pin, 6-pin plugs, etc., are made so that they only go in certain ways and you can't plug the wrong things together without it being painfully obvious. When you've checked everything over, do it again. Make sure your RAM is installed in the correct slots.

If you still have nothing, change the RAM; insert one stick at a time to see if one of the DIMMs is dead.

I have already changed out the ram for different ram to see if that was it and it wasn't. I will go double check my cables tho. Am I just checking the power cables? Could the whole psu be dead yet have the RAM light up? Because the psu I'm using has been sitting around for 3 years unused.

If your RGB works then your PSU is probably fine. Check every single cable.

This is why you should POST your system outside your case before installing everything.

Hahah I had the 4 pin CPU connector upside down...... Big oof

But now my problem is that it boots up but will stay on for 5-10 seconds and then restart. It doesn't boot to the Bios. I tried with both the graphics card and the motherboard's HDMI and neither one will show anything.

can you put only 1 ram in and see if it posts?

I already put in a return order from Amazon. I ended up putting RAM from my main PC into the new one and it booted up fine. So I know the new RAM is faulty.
