so I bought a new ram for the pc. I had 4 4 GB ram sticks, and now I have 2 8 GB ram sticks. so when I inserted the new ram pieces I did not get any picture on the screen. but as soon as I switched to the old ones they worked. I have room for 8 RAM chips in the PC 2 on each side of the CPU. found nothing on the internet about the problem so maybe you know?

Welcome to the forum. I'd added the quote there to aid in readability for people.

If you can tell us details about the system, we can help you in more meaningful ways.

Main: AMD Ryzen 7 5800X3D, Nvidia GTX 1080 Ti, 16 GB 4400 MHz DDR4 Linux - Fedora

  1. Update BIOS up to 7885v1E
  2. Install the DIMMs per following diagram:

The BIOS update notes memory compatibility improvements, which is why I reccomend updating to it.

That's functionally equivalent to clearing CMOS. It won't hurt, but make sure to unplug the system while you do that.

Updating BIOS isn't difficult, usually you just put the file on a thumb drive, and open it from within BIOS.

Yes. Most RAM starts at 2400 MT/s until XMP is enabled.
