Looking for space simulation recommendations

Does anyone have recommendations for good combat games? I am looking for games that are either primary good space exploration games or massive fleet combat simulations, and ideally have both. Being able to build space space stations or a 4x style with good space flight might be good too. I am not looking for granular resource management and building games like No Man's Sky. I have played the following

  • Eve Online
  • Rebel Galaxy
  • Space Engine
  • X Beyond the frontier
  • X Rebirth
  • Xtension
  • X2 the Threat
  • X3 the Union
  • X3 Terra War Pack
  • I backed Limit Theory on Kickstarter as it looked promising, yet that was eight years ago and the developer canceled the project

Good looking recommendation, thanks. I'm buying that now. I heard about it years ago then forgot about it.

Small warning: I tried playing it and both with kb/m and an Xbone controller I fucking hated the controls. Maybe you'll have a different experience, especially if you have a hotas, but be warned lol.

I use some extra controller options for my sim games. I have an Elgato Streamdeck XL that I use a control deck with custom button images for macros or infrequent commands, which has been amazing in simulator and 4x games. I also use a combination of a Belkin Nostromo N52 and Razer Tartarus Chroma as my keyboard commands such as WASD in combination with a mouse. I also have a Logitech G920 steering wheel and pedals and a Wingman Extreme USB joystick, Xbox USB gamepad and Logitech F310 gamepad that I use as controllers depending on which game I am playing.

Space Engineers is good with friends. I haven't looked at it in detail but Astroneer is also worth a look.

For a space RTS, take a look at Homeworld Remastered Collection on steam. I really loved the classic versions (also provided with the steam ver) but the remake versions are good too, and maybe better for the non-nostalgic.

Thanks for commenting yet Astroneer and Space Engineers aren't what I am looking for or are these games applicable to the question in my original post. These are games that appear to be heavy on resource gathering as the main focus of the game instead of the requested exploration and combat. Astroneer is not a realistic sim and is instead cell shaded cartoon game with incomplete and broken animations that appears to be designed for young kids who are learning how to play computer games. I do have the Homeworld Remastered Collection yet this is an RTS as you describe, which isn't an exploration or simulation combat game.
