Just built and set up a new PC. I'm getting quite high CPU temps, Ran 3Dmark TimeSpy and was getting a max of 82 degrees celsius. With just discord, browser and steam open it sticks around 50 ish. I haven't overclocked it, just left everything as it was. My fans seem to be running quite loud most of the time. i'm worried as It seems to be running quite hot. I'm unsure i this is normal

Specs:
Ryzen 7 3800X
Geforce RTX 3080
Aorus Pro x570 Motherboard
CORSAIR VENGEANCE 32GB DDR4 3200 RAM kit
Noctua NH-U12S CPU cooler
A Noctua NF-F12 and a Noctua NF-A12x25 for case fans
Corsair RM750x Power Supply
WIndows 10 Home 64bit

That's not a worrying max temp, especially when running intensive benchmarks. I'd start to get worried if you were hitting 90C+ under heavy loads. That idle temp does seem a bit high to me, though. Are you using the NT-H1 thermal compound that came with your cooler? If so, I'd remove it and check that it's applied correctly.

Main PC:

AMD Ryzen 7 5800X • Noctua NH-D15 • MSI MAG B550 Tomahawk • 2x8GB G.skill Trident Z Neo 3600MHz CL16 • MSI VENTUS 3X GeForce RTX 3070 OC • Samsung 970 Evo 1TB • Samsung 860 Evo 1TB • Cosair iCUE 465X RGB • Corsair RMx 750W (White)

Peripherals/Other:

ASUS VG27AQ • G PRO K/DA • G502 Hero K/DA • G733 K/DA • G840 K/DA • Oculus Quest 2 • Nintendo Switch (Rev. 2)

Laptop (Dell XPS 13):

Intel Core i7-1195G7 • Intel Iris Xe Graphics • 16GB LPDDR4x 4267MHz • 512GB M.2 PCIe NVMe SSD • 13.4" OLED 3.5K InfinityEdge Display (3456x2160, 400nit, touch).

Just by reading your post... here are my two cents, for what it's worth..

Firstly, If you only have a single case fan (which I hope isn't the case), you should probably consider adding additional fans to increase the air flow though the case (if you are able) .Fan air flow has a factor in the overall temps of the system.. my system, the way I have it configured pumps hot air out of the back with a single fan, as well as 4 120mm fans at the top to pull more heat out of the case (as we all know heat rises) with an additional 3 in the front to pull air into the system..

there are many schools of thought on negative pressure VS positive pressure airflow on a PC case, and there are many valid points to each line of thinking... What works for some, may not work for others.. I know that the 3080 pumps out massive heat when a load is applied to the GPU so that could be another factor... then there is the possibility that there might be a void between your heatsink and your CPU, it might be a simple issue of there not being enough thermal paste applied, or it might have been too thick or too thin when applied. the type of thermal paste you use is also another factor to consider.

My system isn't as high powered as yours, but I run in temps of 70-75c (CPU) on full load and around 40-45c on idle...

I hope my thoughts on this give you some help in possibly diagnosing the issue.
