I currently have a 2 pc setup, with an i5 8600k and 1080ti for my streaming  pc.(using x264 and want to continue  to use x264)

All was good until I started adding more animated scenes, transitions, ect, and now my stream will have minor stutters  every so often.

No frames drops in obs software or on twitch.inspector, just on the actual stream.

I want to be able to stream with Obs preset on slow, as well as record with 4k60 utility  while streaming, with discord, browers, open as well so am considering  switching streaming pc to Ryzen because they are seeming to be best for my current needs.

I' ve never paid much attention to their releases,  so in the dark of what  best fit for me.

Few youtube videos and Im seeing 3600X and 3700X are good price for preformance, but all videos are test of gaming + streaming.

Hoping someone here can let me know whats the lowest tier Ryzen I can go to meet  my needs with NO issues, as well as what lands in the middle  for possible  "overkill".

Im open for intel suggestions,  but from what I gathered, since its just my streaming rig, Ryzen should be the best for my task with best price for performance.

You should wait 4 days for the next generation of Ryzen CPUs to drop. They're supposed to beat Intel in gaming, and they're already better in productivity / streaming applications, so they might be a very good proposition for you.

Look to grab the new Ryzen 7 5800X or 5900X, which are 8 and 12 core CPUs respectively. They have plenty enough to handle streaming while also playing games :)

We have a NEW and GLORIOUSER-ER-ER PSU Tier List Now. (dammit @LukeSavenije stop coming up with new ones)

You can check out the old one that gave joy to so many across the land here

The thing is, I will not be gaming+ streaming on this rig, so Im not looking for the "best/fastest gaming cpu".

Only looking for the PERFECT cpu for the job I want done.

Basically, I dnt want to spend $500 for a cpu BUT only be using $300 worth of it, since Im only streaming, if that analogy makes sense.

So I just want the best cpu for my task I need to complete, doesnt need to be the newest cpu, just best for streaming+ multi task things I want to do at same time of streaming.

wait till the new amd cpus drop amd does the best in multi tasking even in the 2000 and 3000 series. i would wait to see what the r7 3700/x/xt are going for in the next couple of weeks that will be plenty for your streaming and you can get a b450 mobo for it and that will save on some money but one thing i would say when all the gpus come out if you can pick up a 2060 cheap get it for the nvik encoder takes the strain of the cpu

I already purchased  a 2080 ti for my gaming rig few months back, thats why I put my 1080ti into my streaming pc.

I dnt want to use the new encoder to stream, x264 still gives better quality, even though the new encoders chips are good, I still prefer to stream with x264 at slow preset, thats why I want to make sure I can get a capable Ryzen cpu to do that plus a lil more. Since it will eb dedicated  streaming  pc, I will be able to stream x264 with no issues.

I am able to now, but as I said, once I started adding more into obs, my 8600k just isnt "perfect" for the job.

I havent even attempted  to overlock, but kinda made my mind up.

Ryzen, from what I gathered, has gotten super superior, especially when it comes to productivity, so Im ready to convert streaming pc.

Yes, since Black Friday is right around the corner. Im ok with waiting until then, with thr new amd processor dropping, and some Black Friday sales. Maybe I can get a good priced 3000 series.

But would you happen to know whats the LOWEST tier Ryzen I can go that would get the job done, as well as the top tier for my task, thats like lil overkill but not crazy? So I can know the range I should  be looking in.

i run a r7 2700 and a 2060ko i would go with a 3700 atleast but the x and the xt are just a lil better then the 3700 my 2700 is now 3 gen old and are hard to find and almost the same price as the 3700's now for full disclosure i got my 2700 right before the covid hit and newegg had them for $149 with a free game and the xbox stuff for 6 months
